10 Single-Player Video Games With Insanely Underrated Multiplayer Modes

1. Saints Row

Long before you were punching aliens as President of the United States and shooting Satan himself in the face, you were a mere gangster in the city of Stillwater. Before all the wackiness set into the Saints Row franchise it was nothing more than a Grand Theft Auto knockoff, and it was hiding one of the best online multiplayers.

Releasing all the way back in 2006 and having some of the most innovative and fitting game modes to ever grace a multiplayer, Saints Row rode the "gangster" vibe and it rode it hard.

Every game mode was uniquely centred around this.

Big A*s Chains, for instance, was its Kill Confirmed mode, which it included before Call of Duty did so in its own games. Protect Tha Pimp saw one team escort their pimp from point A to point B while the other team tried to stop them. Blinged Out Ride had you trying to upgrade your team car from level 1 to level 4 before the opposing team, using the money they dropped upon death. All basic, yet unique modes that were aesthetically formed to the game to perfection.

On top of the flawless game modes was the character customization, featuring ZERO microtransactions. Everything was earned in-game with money you earned through playing, and everything was feasibly priced (looking at you, GTA V).

Unfortunately, today the online player base is dead. It's a game that never really had a huge community, but those who played were a loyal bunch, and to this day members of said community will tell you it's one of their favorite games of all time.
