Hundreds of celebrities have lent their voices to video games in the past. Some experiencing more success than others of course, but notable examples would be Samuel L. Jackson in GTA San Andreas and Stephen Merchant in the exceptional Portal 2 as Wheatley: the ever-so-slightly-deranged robot that turns out to be the main antagonist in one of the best character performances we've has ever seen.

What you may not realise, however, is that the voiceover cast for most of the games you’ve been playing over the last 10-15 years feature a good handful of very familiar faces.

Granted, you hear them instead, but many are so instantly recognisable, they've helped give many video games an immortal sense of place, importance and above all, likability.

Who are your favourite voice actors, and which talented individuals often get overlooked completely? Let us know in the comments - providing we didn't get there first...

10. Tara Strong - Final Fantasy X, Jak & Daxter, Psychonauts

Perhaps best known as the voice of hundreds of Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon characters; Tara Strong has been thrust into the video game voiceover limelight, despite never actually sounding like herself. Seriously, look up interviews with her and you’ll be astounded.

There’s a good chance you’ll recognise her voice artistry as Timmy Turner (Fairly Odd Parents), Bubbles (PowerPuff Girls) or Harley Quinn and Barbara Gordon from the Batman animated franchise, and Strong even provided the voice for Seth Macfarlane’s creation, Ted, before the man himself took over of course/ Listen out for the ‘I Love You’ voice box; that’s Tara!

Obviously, she is best known for voicing characters from these larger series, but there are a few curveballs on her CV: Rikku in Final Fantasy X, Rachel in Ninja Gaiden, Sheegar in the brilliant Psychonauts, Keira in the Jak & Daxter series and even Jessica Jones as part of LEGO Marvel’s Avengers.

This lady has been busy. REALLY busy.
