10 Terrifying Horror Video Games Coming In 2016

3. Narcosis

The depths of the ocean aren't a fun place to be, unless you're a blobfish or one of those sand-crawler creatures, or anything else that's too ugly and creepy to exist anywhere near the surface. You don't have to be a thalassophobe to find that there's something deeply unsettling about the sea, and Narcosis plays on those fears brilliantly.

It may sound a little bit like Soma, but the difference here is that you're directly in the water - vulnerable and exposed to all the horrors of the ocean. You play a deep-sea miner who's been cut off from the rest of his team, and finds himself wandering through a flooded underwater facility.

There are no monsters, zombies, or zombie-monster-sharks to jump out at you here. Instead, you'll need to contend with hallucinations caused by nitrogen narcosis as your air runs out, making you question what's real and what's not. Delightful.

Narcosis will be playable using the Oculus Rift, which should make for one of the most suffocating VR experiences around. Who needs the supernatural when you have the gloomy mystery of the ocean floor?
