10 Times Just Not Giving A F**K Gave Us Great Video Games

We're so glad these games were allowed to run wild.

In recent years, we've seen video games develop and grow to the point where they're now comparable with films and books. Mature issues are no longer a taboo subject within the video game world and 'winning' is no longer limited to how big a score you can amass. Most critically acclaimed games nowadays are those that tell deep, emotional stories that linger in the mind long after you've finished, in the exact same way that a good movie does. Of course, there are always exceptions to the rule though. As games matured, some developers stuck their heads in the proverbial sand and refused to grow up. They clung to the idea that video games were supposed to be ridiculous and fun and they continued to make games in that manner. It's a real joy nowadays to find a game that genuinely does not give a flying f**k. Games that explore the realms of the imagination and give us images and worlds beyond our comprehension; games that give the player the tools to go out and cause virtual mayhem; or games that turned out great despite the developers making risky decisions and potentially upsetting the fanbase. By all means, celebrate Gone Home for it's deep storytelling and innovative design. At the same time though, just remember that there are games out there that have gone through the same level of delicate craftsmanship, all in the name of fun. They may be loud and brash but they're also fun and exciting; it's just nice to have a change of pace every once in a while. If you can think of any more examples of games that should be celebrated for their ridiculous nature or insane ways, feel free to add them in the comments below.

I have an addiction to achievements, a craving for new bands and a dream to become Captain America. I once finished second in a Mario Kart 7 tournament so I'm kind of a big deal.
