Now, I swear that I've never done this myself, but I have countless "friends" who will play Massive Multiplayer Online Role-Playing games exclusively as female characters, and labour over making their character look as physically appealing as possible. The reason? Play any MMORPG and you'll know that women get it a whole lot easier; get chatting to a male player for even a few minutes and he'll either help you grind or just flat-out give you some of his gear, especially if you pretend that, as a player, you're also female. Though the stereotype that only virgins play MMORPGs is obviously unfounded, these stereotypes
do emerge from somewhere, and I've seen it happen myself. Apparently, the mere hint of interaction with a female - no matter how removed from reality it is - is enough for some to play the White Knight card and drop everything in their service. Of course, humour no doubt abounds when the inevitable friend-zoning occurs, or better yet, the "woman" unveils her duplicity, Crying Game style.
