10 Upcoming Video Games To Look Out For In March 2017

Believe it or not, there's more than just the new Zelda this month.

There's no other way to describe it: March is looking to be a very big month in gaming.

Few words can get the gaming world salivating more than "The New Legend of Zelda game", and in case you haven't heard about it yet: Nintendo's adventure stalwart is reinventing itself with a fresh new take on the open-world genre, possibly becoming the killer app for Nintendo's riskiest console.

But if you're not lining up for a Nintendo Switch yet, there's plenty more coming in March.

Gaming titan Square Enix is teaming up with the ever popular Platinum Games, while EA and Bioware are bringing us back to the stars with the newest chapter of their space opera RPG. On the digital side of things, Japanese publisher Sunsoft (Now that's a name I've not heard in a long time...) comes back from the dead and resurrects a retro classic, while Devolver Digital is doing what they do best lately - another violent, pixellated pastiche of gaming history.

Of course, this list would be remiss to ignore the upcoming Switch games that don't start with a big Z and end with "elda", either.

10. The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild

What is it: Nintendo's newest Zelda adventure is turning the entire franchise on its head by giving players the freedom to go anywhere they want, whenever they want, in a spacious open world. Players will explore and forage for food and new weaponry, with only a minimal aid of any typical open world mission markers or guides.

Breath of the Wild shakes many franchise traditions in the name of upending traditional "Zelda formula", including additional weapons and player customization options, alongside a fully voice-acted story. If you really wanted, you could explore anywhere in the game world from the moment you start, taking your own path to explore all the world has to offer.

You can even ignore absolutely everything the game holds, and simply trot all the way to the final boss the moment you start. It is definitely a bad idea to try and save the world while you're armed with a stick and decked in your underwear, but you're free to do it - and if that isn't total freedom then what is?

When's it coming out: 3rd March, alongside the debuting Nintendo Switch. It'll launch on both the Switch and the Wii U.
