10 Upcoming Video Games To Look Out For In May 2017

9. Lethal League

What is it: A mashup of Pong, Baseball, and Smash Bros., all blended into the funky street-punk style of Jet Set Radio - Lethal League is a competitive fighting game unlike any other.

In Lethal League, players smash a baseball around a square arena, avoiding the ball as it bounces and ricochets off walls. With every strike, the ball increases in speed, with no limits to the speeds it can take. Prediction, accuracy, and nerves of steel become key as you trade hits on an object that comes screaming at you like a bullet - and one false swing will knock you out of the round.

Further mixing up the teeth-gnashing intensity are character-exclusive special attacks. Crocodile robot Latch can hold onto the ball within his jaws, the insane Candyman can warp the projectile across the arena's boundaries, and poster boy Raptor can instantly adjust the timing of his swing.

On the surface, Lethal League is a wonderful party game - an easy to learn, four player madcap extravaganza. Once the party fades, though, don't be surprised if you keep coming back to master the intricacies of the game.

When's it coming out: After a worldwide Steam release way back in 2014, Lethal League strikes PS4 and Xbox One on 10 May.
