10 Video Game Franchises Microsoft Needs To Win The Console War

10. Crackdown

Yes, apparently there's a new Crackdown game coming this year, even though after the 'blink and you'll miss it' reveal back at E3 last year the whole project essentially went dark. Rumours are still thin on the ground, but it's a franchise that has the potential to blow everyone away thanks to the simple fact that there's plenty mileage left in the 'superhero in an open world' template. Infamous does this in its own way with floaty jumps and firework-style special moves, and Prototype took a far gorier bent (allowing you to lob pedestrians 100mph straight into the side of buildings), but Crackdown has been the one franchise that asked you 'clean up the streets' with some semblance of duty. Launching around the world with some Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction-style chained leaps, amassing your armoury of perp-killing weaponry and occasionally nipping off to collect a smattering of glowing orbs, Crackdown's core feel was near-perfect already, it just needs to be done on a far bigger scale.
