10 Video Game Moments That Made You Cry Like A Baby

9. Assassin's Creed: Revelations - Altair's Passing

Cast your mind back to just when it felt like we were approaching the crest of the commercialisation wave. It's 2011, and Assassin's Creed had only a year ago had arguably the finest entry in its canon with Brotherhood, with Revelations set to wrap up the 'Ezio Trilogy' in style. However everyone's favourite Italian protagonist would in fact remain alive throughout Revelations - instead dying of old age in short animated film AC: Embers. Instead it was first game hero Altair whose dying days we'd play out; and in a really beautiful way too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xAaCSlrGgzo With duel protagonists Ezio and Altair, both their roads converged in the latter's underground vault, as we played out both the near-death Altair saying goodbye to his friends and confining himself in the tomb, only to then journey in as Ezio many years later and discover the decaying body still clenching the precious 'golden apple' treasure. For once the series didn't go overboard on the theatricalities, showing the passing of one character and the transference of power to another in a really moving, heartfelt and honest way.
