10 Video Game Sequels You Didn’t Know Were Coming In 2018

These deserve some hype too!

It's been an interesting year in gaming. Battle lines were drawn in the 4K arena, the Switch helped Nintendo claw back significant marketshare and virtual reality headsets that are actually worth owning became a thing.

While 2017 has been significant on the hardware front, there's been no shortage of quality new games to back it up, with the likes of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Resident Evil 7 and Injustice 2 putting that shiny new hardware through its paces.

From the look of things, 2018 will serve up more of the same in software terms. Blockbuster sequels such as Red Dead Redemption 2 and God of War are likely to set the standards and dominate the headlines next year.

There's been plenty of fanfare around these releases, but not all quality sequels enjoy the same level of hype, despite being no less essential to your games collection.

Countless franchises are due to be expanded in 2018, from forgotten favourites on the comeback trail, to long-awaited successors that spent too long in development hell, and some of them have been criminally underhyped so far...

10. The Walking Dead: The Final Season

State of Decay 2 isn't the only zombie sequel staggering towards PC and consoles in 2018 - Telltale's critically-acclaimed Walking Dead adventure series is also heading for its conclusion.

Beating the comic book and TV show to the finish line, The Walking Dead: The Final Season will bring Clementine's story arc to a close and hopefully give her the sendoff she deserves.

Clem stole gamers' hearts in the emotive first season, and while the subsequent chapters and the Michonne spinoff didn't quite hit the same heights, her final outing promises to delve deeper than its predecessors.

The previous instalment, The New Frontier, made a few welcome tweaks to the Telltale formula, such as improved visuals and narrative curveballs, so let's hope The Final Season builds on this even further.
