10 Video Games Coming In 2020 (And Beyond)

9. The Lord Of The Rings: Gollum

Warner Bros. Pictures/New Line Cinema

If there's any character that hasn't been celebrated quite enough over the years, it's Gollum.

Where the hobbits have their own prequel films and an Amazon series will take us back to the Second Age, one little guy has quietly been a defining feature of The Lord of the Rings in all its forms so far. Thankfully, the games industry is the one to pay respects by crafting a game dedicated to the potato-hating creature himself, coming in the next two years.

Lord of the Rings: Gollum has been slated for a 2021 release, and apart from a few key details, not much is really known about it.

Assumedly, the split between Gollum and Smeagol will factor into gameplay, and we're staying in the realms of the source material with action/adventure branding. Perhaps most importantly though, studio Daedelic have the rights to the LOTR novels rather than the movies, so we can get a fresh new take on the character we've become familiar with by exploring it at the source.
