10 Video Games That Failed So Hard They Actually Won

Like the self-aware party animal in a Hawaiian shirt, some things are just big dumb fun.

Internet culture is a weird beast in 2014, chances are you're more likely to make a million of your respective currency filming something like a cat riding a vacuum cleaner than you are producing anything particularly worthwhile or thought-provoking, but here we are. Not that it's inherently a bad thing of course, but it does make you wonder about just how much we'll put up with from the realms of random, providing it can make us laugh. That very idea of being able to manufacture charm can carry anything far higher than it probably should do on its own merits - just ask Tommy Wiseau and his disastrously-awful The Room, which has become a beloved cult-classic precisely because of how terribly shot and acted the entire thing is. In video games it's a slightly different story though, as it's not always charm that carries something from a potential fail-state into a more positive one. Occasionally a game's reputation will be remarked upon so badly that lovers of bad/experimental titles will seek it out anyway, or there could be themes and characters that are accidentally/intentionally offensive, which on curiosity alone will prompt a purchase for the sake of owning such a notorious title. Either way there's a wealth of games that upon discussion always get reactionary responses of disgust - before we realise they're a notable and inevitable part of gaming's history anyway.
