10 Video Games That Are So Bad They’re Actually Awesome

8. Sonic The Hedgehog (2006)

Sonic has had a very up-and-down career, by which I mean that he started on an 'up' back in the days of the Genesis and has been spinning full-speed into a downward spiral ever since (Sonic Adventure and All-Stars Racing Transformed being notable exceptions).

Sonic the Hedgehog (2006), or Sonic '06, marked a low-point for the series. It was an incredibly broken game, and featured things that had no right existing in the Sonic universe, such as guns, princesses, missiles and human beings. Sonic would fall through walls, drown the secondhe touched water, and generally seemed unable to cope with the hellish mess of a world created for him.

But amidst all the broken carnage there was some great level design, a variety of characters to play as, and three entire campaigns to get through. None of this really gelled to make a coherent game, but the typically terrible Sonic voice acting, stylistic inconsistency and the complete not-knowing what to expect next - be it a game-breaking bug or a surprisingly fun level - made it oddly compelling.
