10 Video Games That Didn't Know When To End

9. Grand Theft Auto IV

Again, don't get me wrong, Grand Theft Auto IV was another winner from Rockstar, even if it didn't feature anywhere near as much content as GTA: San Andreas, and so felt a little piecemeal by comparison. It appears that Rockstar wanted to compensate for that by building a single-player story mode that offered more content than ever before, and though GTA IV will taken even seasoned players around 20 hours to complete, there's plenty of that which could have been chopped for a far more concise, exciting experience. I had fun, sure, but the big issue with it is that too many of the missions felt derived from what we've seen before; drive somewhere, chase someone down and kill them, rinse and repeat. For every mission that felt inspired and original (the Heat-style heist was the best of show, surely?), there was another that felt woefully trite and in the game solely to pad out the run-time. Hopefully for the upcoming GTA V, Rockstar can either come up with more original missions, or keep the length at a more reasonable 12-15 hours; Red Dead Redemption went this route and felt far more slick and cohesive.
