10 Video Games That Prove The Wii U Is Far From Doomed

If there's one lesson that companies in the gaming business must learn, it's that success isn't always guaranteed. After all, Sony went from dominating the industry with the PS2 to really struggling in the early days of the PS3. Similarly, Microsoft enjoyed a lot of success with the Xbox 360 thanks to its powerful hardware that was easy to develop for, but now the Xbox One is playing catch-up to Sony's PlayStation 4. And so we come to Nintendo. The Wii sold the most consoles of its generation, but it's no secret that its successor is struggling. The Wii's casual audience has since gravitated to mobile phones, while a lot Nintendo's legion of traditional gamers felt betrayed by their casual focus in the Wii era and have since jumped ship to other consoles. But its not all doom and gloom. The Wii U may not get some heavy-hitters like Alien: Isolation and Batman: Arkham Knight that are on other systems, but what it has going for it is a strong library of diverse, exclusive titles that you can't get anywhere else. Nintendo know that they need to up their game and that's when the company is the most dangerous. That's when they brought the gaming industry back from the dead with the NES. That's when they dominated the industry with the Wii after the GameCube fell flat. Just when you think Nintendo is dying, they punch you in the face with pure, unadulterated awesome that makes you fall in love with them all over again. The 3DS was struggling in similar ways to Wii U in its early days. Nintendo turned it around by literally spamming the market with quality release after quality release, changing the system from a dud to a success in little under a year. We've seen the start of a similar strategy with Wii U and the likes of Mario Kart and the imminent Smash Bros., but judging by Nintendo's packed release schedule for the rest of the year and 2015 they're just getting started.
