9. EA Sports MAA Was Banned In Denmark Because It Featured Advertisements For Energy Drinks

url-14 Just like those drinks of the alcoholic variety, energy drinks have always managed to generate a healthy amount of controversy, given their associations with, you know, making people die and stuff. Over in Denmark, though, they're especially wary of energy-based beverages - so much so, in fact, that it's actually prohibited by Scandinavian law to advertise them in any way, shape or form. That didn't spell good news for EA Sports MMA, then, a 2001 game which was branded from head to toe in advertisements for real-life energy drinks. Instead of changing the game for a release in Denmark, though, EA decided they'd just cancel the release in that particularly country, because screw you Denmark. Not really: they wanted to "preserve the integrity" of their product, apparently. And leaving in the energy drink advertisements was absolutely the way to do that.
