10 Video Games With Permadeath That Will Destroy You

Permanent death... almost like real life.

Diablo 3

Permanent death in video games, kind of like in real life, does not give you second chances.

These games ooze with rage quits galore and they will feast hungrily on your salty, salty tears. You will lose your beloved friends, the fruits of your hard labour, your max-level avatar, and worst of all, hours and hours worth of gameplay.

Fortunately they are all rewarding enough to keep us restarting again and again, getting a little better each time in order to reach that final goal.

Unless you give up along the way...

Minecraft’s hardcore mode does what it says on the box. It’s a simple, permadeath survival mode. The difficulty cannot be changed while playing, there is no bonus chest, and cheats are not allowed.

When you die, your world dies with you, along with whatever beautiful castles you created along the way. Hilariously, hardcore is available in multiplayer mode, banning the deceased from reconnecting to the server upon death and forcing them to spectate.

It's gonna take a lot of grinding to down that Ender Dragon with just one life.
