12 Best Western-Themed Video Games Ever

11. Wild Guns

Red Dead Redemption
Natsume

Heading out into the old west and taking down baddies is a daunting task to undertake on your lonesome; it’s a good thing, then, that developer Natsume crafted a game where you could do this with a friend.

A traditional light gun shooter at the heart of it, sans the gun, this dusty hunk of retro gold pits you and preferably a friend up against everything a steampunk-skewed west has to throw at you, be it outlaws, vagrants, or robots, in a frantic mix. The result is a game where you have to hop, skip, and shoot over bullets coming your way, as well as take down foes scurrying along the ground. Some serious mettle is required.

Graphically, the game was ahead of the pack when released and even now there aren’t many games you can cite that brought an arcade experience like this to a home console. An absolute blast.
