12 Most Disappointing Video Games Of 2013

11. Ryse: Son Of Rome

Ryse Something can look extremely pretty, but when there's nothing inside that makes it interesting, it's easy to lose interest in the prettiness. Yeah, remember when you really liked that person cause they looked all pretty and they ended up being as dull as a piece of soggy cardboard? Ryse is a bit like that really. Stuck in development limbo for years on end, Ryse originally revealed itself as a hideous Kinect-powered game a few E3's back. The recently released version has little in common with this initial variation - it's a traditional controller powered title using the notoriously lovely graphics of the Cry Engine. When it was first revealed, reactions were mixed. Many loved the look of the game with its lovely glistening armour, burly men shouting, arrows to the eye, fire and brutal executions, but were promptly turned off as the dreaded QTEs started to invade the gameplay we were watching. It was still, however, one of the most flashy launch titles released this year. Unfortunately, the fears many had at the initial showing were all apparently still in the game upon release. This is a game that's all about style without the substance - you may be wowed at what you see, but you'll soon get bored with the gameplay. Who thought Roman epic wars could be so dull?
