12 Hidden Gem PS4/Xbox One Games You Must Play

9. OlliOlli 2: Welcome To Olliwood

When was the last time you played a shooter that didn't fire with the right trigger? Or a platformer that didn't jump with the bottom face button? There are some control methods that become engrained in our collective mindsets when tackling any new gaming experience, and that's point one on why Olli Olli's learning curve is both fantastic and downright infuriating until you get it down. See, in a reverse of Skate's controls you'll be jumping by flicking the left stick, and landing with either X or A (depending on your console). You'll pull off tricks and modifiers to both in-air flips, spins and grinds through combinations of the back buttons with the stick, but all this is for nought if you can't tap X at the right time to land perfectly. It's this approach that makes the whole experience so original and refreshing, opening up a world of arcady delights that'll hurtle along at lightspeed once you start factoring in specific grinds and manuals into the mix. Your greatest enemy is your own brain at the start of the game, but like a real-world half-pipe, a steep difficulty-curve incline only gives way to some sweet air at the top.
