14 Best PlayStation Games Of 2015

13. Until Dawn

Not a soul expected this to turn out as well as it did. Essentially once a tech demo for the PS Move, Sony upended all expectations when Until Dawn dropped as a supremely fun marriage of David Cage's narrative-driven titles with jump-scares and visually striking reveals that could give Silent Hill nightmares. The best part is the causal nature of the whole thing, as through trying to keep your little troupe of teenagers alive through the horrifying ordeal of being hunted in the woods, you'll slowly realise every character is important to the eventual endgame. The mystery of what's really going on and why a chunk of the game takes place in a psychiatrist's chair is all part of the fun, especially when you realise some of your answers to "What's your biggest fear?" can manifest in-game (Hint: Don't pick 'spiders'. Never, ever pick 'spiders' for anything. Ever.) Gameplay boils down to explorative sections a la L.A. Noire and more action-heavy quick-time stuff where missed buttons can result in the demise of your favourite survivor. There's some really neat stuff in here with the DualShock 4 too, as by having sections where holding the pad perfectly still means your character can evade detection, it's quite possibly the only game to really make such a feature integral to the experience.
