When done right, boss battles force you to gather everything you've learned and truly put it to the test. Of course, there are a ton of enjoyable encounters that simply exist for fun, or as a bookmark to show you're progressing correctly, but for the sake of this list, we're talking about boss battles are some of the most memorable parts of their respective games.

15. Shadow Of The Beast - Leviathan
A lot of older gamers will remember the original Shadow of the Beast from 1989 - and that its final boss was essentially a foot. Yes, really.
All you could do was attack, and other than a club smashing down so often, it was all you could see. The final boss in the 2016 remake is the whole damn monster. You'll fight preliminary minions as the boss rains down the pain, but eventually you don a jetpack and go at the Leviathan in a very Star Fox-esk battle.
While SOTB may not be anything to write home about, such a cool change in style - and the revenge on Maletoth afterwards - truly holds the weight in this fight.
