Most Pokémon pull inspiration from real life objects, ideas, or animalsthe latter being the most prevalent. Even when a Pokémon is simply a morphed version of a rat or insect at least it has a special touch and twist that makes it a Pokémon and not just an animated form of the real life creature. But there are some Pokémon that seem to take the creation process no further than the initial brainstorm of ideas and little else. Wingull is one of them. Wingull is an innocent bystander. Unlike some Pokémon that people have distaste for, Wingull has done nothing to harm anyone. It just kind of waits in the corner without anyone realizing its presence until you fetch it to complete your Pokédex. And this might be why Wingull is on this list. It's obviously a seagull, nothing more. A lot of seagulls are already white, or a varied color thereof, and all that's done for Wingull is to add a few blue lines. That's it. Wingull may not be anyone's real poster-child of ill-conceived Pokémon. But when you truly consider the lack of imagination that went into Wingull all you can see is just a bird, a simple, uneventful bird that has virtually zero differences from its inspiration. It's pretty hard to get excited for Wingull. And on the note of Pokémon that make little effort to be unique...
