20 Best Moments From E3 2014

It may not have been an E3 for the ages like last year, but it still had a plethora of awesome moments from games we just can't wait to get our hands on.

Well, that's E3 for another year, folks! Microsoft, EA, Ubisoft, Sony and Nintendo have all held their press conferences, unveiling the latest and greatest in the gaming world. Though it was a considerably more muted affair than last year's next-gen frenzy, Sony and Microsoft especially delivered rock-solid reveals, while EA gave what is already regarded to be one of the worst pressers in recent E3 memory. We didn't have anything on the entertaining level of Sony's hilarious trouncing of Microsoft last year, as it seemed like this year both companies were simply more interested in talking about the games and even giving each other the occasional bit of measured praise. We had surprise re-releases of classic games, a number of games unexpectedly throwing co-op play into the mix, a AAA franchise heading in a completely different direction, and even one game having a beta launched immediately after being shown off at the conference. It may not have been an E3 for the ages like last year, but it still had a plethora of awesome moments from games we just can't wait to get our hands on. What were your favourite moments from this year's E3? Let us know in the comments!

20. Assassin's Creed Unity Has 4-Player Co-op

Assassin's Creed: Unity was announced some time ago, but the exciting revelation came at E3 that the game would be launching with a revolutionary 4-player co-operative mode, allowing players to form an assassin faction and help take down a target together. Aside from demonstrating how slickly-animated and smooth the camera angles look, we got to see how well the Assassin's Creed gameplay transitions into what could be the next hit multiplayer mode. The trailer ends with the four players confronting their target and throwing him out of a window to a waiting mob outside, who promptly decapitate him and hold up the severed head as a trophy. As much as annualised titles are often a sign of creative stagnation in the gaming industry, Unity appears to bring something new and exciting to the table: hopefully the mission variety will be enough to keep it fresh and build up a strong online community. Even without considering the multiplayer, though, it looks great. During Ubisoft's press conference, we also saw extended gameplay of the game's campaign, showing off some outstanding lighting and the insane size of the crowds during exterior scenes. Assassin's Creed: Unity is out October 28th.
