20 Best Nintendo DS Games Of All Time

The Legend of Zelda, Pokémon, Mario - what's the best DS game?

The Nintendo DS family are the second best-selling game consoles of all time, so when I say that "everybody owned a DS", I'm barely exaggerating.

The original Nintendo DS was a good starting point for the other models to build off of. It wasn't bad, but it's hard to go back to after playing any of the models that succeeded it. The DS Lite seems to be the model that everybody owned, it was sleek, comfy, and could actually fit in your pocket.

The Nintendo DSi replaced the Game Boy Advance compatibility with a bad online shop that had barely any games on it. DSiWare was no WiiWare.

The model itself was good though, adding a camera, and there are a few DSi exclusive games, though spoiler, none of them make it on to this list.

Finally, there was the Nintendo DSi XL which was just a thicc version of the Nintendo DSi. Nothing more, nothing less.

The best thing about these models is that they all give you access to a wide variety of amazing Nintendo DS games. Some are even more entertaining than PictoChat, if you can believe it.

20. Sonic Rush

Whilst everybody was busy laughing at 3D Sonic as he made a fool of himself over and over again, 2D Sonic was actually starring in some excellent adventures on portable systems. The excellent Dimps who made the great Sonic Advanced trilogy continued their streak of amazing Sonic games on the DS with the excellent Sonic Rush.

Sonic Rush has you controlling Sonic and Blaze as you attempt to stop Doctor Eggman (no surprise there) and his alternate dimensional version Doctor Eggman Nega.

Sonic Rush adds the boost ability from the 3D games which works surprisingly well in 2D, using this, Sonic Rush emphasises speed more so than arguably any other Sonic game. This has its pros and cons, the biggest pro being that it feels amazing to go so fast whilst the biggest con is that the level design can be a tad basic at times.

Nonetheless, this is easily one of the best games on the DS and is a must-play for any Sonic fans.

The game is also composed by Twitter-famous legendary video game composer Hideki Naganuma. You know, the guy who is obsessed with Big Chungus and catgirls, yeah, that one.
