20 Greatest Ever Beat Em Up Video Game Characters

7. Sub-Zero (Mortal Kombat)

The original Sub-Zero was in fact a role played by Noob Saibot in the first Mortal Kombat, before the mantle was handed over to his younger brother from then on. Sub-Zero is known primarily for his power to freeze his enemies where they stand, as well as make the floor slippery, and even create an "ice clone" of himself, which will freeze anyone who dares to touch it. Due to the unique nature of his abilities, he is one of MK's most popular characters, with sibling players having to decide whether they want to be Sub-Zero or his rival Scorpion in combat (or Kombat, sorry). Some iterations of the character have depicted him without a mask and a less-concealing outfit, but to most, he will always be remembered for his mask, his blue ninja uniform and his over-the-top, hideously grotesque fatalities, which caused a considerable amount of controversy, even for a game like this.
