4 Reasons Why Batman: Arkham Origins May Fail

3. Its Change Of Voice Cast

voicecast Arkham Asylum wasn€™t expected to be such a massive hit, given the sketchy reception that games based on superheroes (I€™m looking at you, Superman 64) have received in the past, but one thing that it had going for it were ties to Batman: The Animated Series, notably the inclusion of Kevin Conroy (Batman) and Mark Hamill (The Joker) as voice actors. Conroy and Hamill reprised their roles in Arkham City, with Hamill publically announcing before the game€™s release that it would be the last time he voiced the Joker character, who will instead now be voiced by Troy Baker (who in recent months has played Joel in The Last Of Us and Booker in Bioshock Infinite, two high calibre games, admittedly). Conroy, meanwhile, is being replaced by Roger Craig Smith (Ezio from Assassin€™s Creed), in a change supposedly justified by the fact that Arkham Origins is set five years before Arkham Asylum. Does the voice of an adult man change noticeably in half a decade? Not really. Will Batman be as impactful without Conroy€™s gruff voice? Will the Joker be as dastardly without Hamill€™s vocal talents? Only time will tell.
