5 Best Marvel Video Games
System: PS1, PC, N64
The first Spider-Man game that ever went into the third dimension actually got it right. It’s an awesome experience, it takes its cues from the world of the 90’s Marvel Animated Series and features all most of the biggest names from the Marvel Universe: Daredevil, The Human Torch, The Punisher etc. The world is rich and vibrant as are the battles with Spidey villains like Mysterio, Carnage and Doc Ock. I can’t believe that they got it so right in one game. The web-swinging was fluid, the fighting was excellent, and the story mode was very comic book influenced.
Add to this, other stuff like alternate costumes, art etc, and a “What If” mode that altered the game to reveal different tasks and events. How cool is that? Now it has dated poorly but it set the bar for every other Spidey game that would follow. You can barely go wrong with a Spidey game, and Web of Shadows and Shattered Dimensions are worth playing too. In face, do it right now!
The follow up, Spider-Man 2: Enter Electro is more of the same but has a new cast of villains, like Electro, Shocker, Hammerhead, Lizard, Sandman and the exclusive charged-up Hyper-Electro. I recommend playing these two back-to-back and you’ll be amazed at just how fun these games still are.
