5 Least Useful Items In The Legend Of Zelda Series

4. The Bombchu - Ocarina Of Time & Majora’s Mask

The Bombchu in the N64 era ‘Zelda’ games is a bomb with a mind of its own, and takes multiple attempts to aim properly. The bomb has the ability to scale walls and travel in just about any path when set down. The problem with this is that timing becomes crucial as the bomb only explodes when the timer goes off as opposed to when it hits something its supposed to like an enemy or a wall that can be blown up.

Bombchus are impossible to use as effective weapons given their timing issues and overall volatility. The only real use for the Bombchu is during certain temple puzzles that, thankfully, don’t require any sense of urgency. Other uses of the Bombchu include a bowling mini game for a life heart piece, fun stuff. The Bombchus in other ‘Zelda’ games got an upgrade and overall became more useful as they became more controllable.

In Oracle of Ages and Oracle of Seasons, the Bombchu locked onto an enemy as opposed to running freely on its own accord. In Phantom Hourglass, the player could actually draw the path the Bombchu would follow. However, in the first 3D console ‘Zelda’ installments, the Bombchu might as well be an untrained attack dog, as it more times than not, finds a way to hurt Link.
