5 Reasons Why Resident Evil Needs To Return To Nintendo

5. It€™s Not Scary Anymore

ResidentEvil6SecondTrailer-600x300 Let€™s start at the problem. Most had some sort of problem with Resident Evil 6. It changed little, it held players€™ hands, it borrowed from the much-maligned (and much-bought) Call of Duty series. The intention to make the game more inclusive has dampened its ability to scare. There are many schools of thought on the Resi series, and the various playthrough modes cater to a wide range of players. All offer jumps, and little substance. Take Leon€™s playthrough, for instance €“ the one held up as an attempt to quiet more €œtraditionalist€ fans who can€™t stand to see the series move forward. To say the €˜everyman€™ quality of Leon as a character has been lost would be an understatement. He started off in Resi 2 €“ in a similar scenario €“ as a cop on the worst first day possible. He€™s a fish out of water, albeit one with firearms skills. In Resi 4, he has no idea what he€™s getting into, and is continually aghast as things take horrific turns. At the start of Resi 6, he€™s having a chinwag with the president. Fair enough, character arcs exist and he€™s got to go somewhere, but I€™m sure most €˜traditional€™ fans would prefer a new character with a good backstory, even if is risky to remove established characters.
