5 Things We Learned From PGI 2018

4. There’s HUGE Eastern Support For Pro PUBG Teams

E-Sports in eastern countries such as China and Korea, is huge. E-Sports teams playing anything from CS:GO to Overwatch are equivalent to pop stars when on their home turf. When teams such as OMG, Gen.G Gold, and Gen.G Black qualified for PGI 2018 and rocked up to Berlin, thousands of fans made the trip along with them. Each knock, each kill, each successful chicken dinner filled the stadium with roars from the eastern crowd.

With Gen.G Gold taking the top spot in the third-person perspective tournament, and OMG winning the first-person perspective tournament after bulldozing the competition (especially during the first day of matches), there's no surprise there's such a huge supporting cast for these teams. Each time OMG won another round, team captain 'xiaorong' would appear on the big screens to the fans in Berlin erupting once more.

The unstoppable force of teams like OMG and the two Gen.G squads put them firmly on the map for future PUBG tournaments, and it's safe to assume that wherever they go, swathes of fans will be behind them, cheering them on.
