6 Most Unlikely Guest Characters In Fighting Games

5. Akuma (Tekken 7)

Now, there have been a couple of oddities amongst Tekken 7's roster already. The most “unlikely” would probably have to be Noctis Lucis Caelum, the main character of Final Fantasy XV, who was recently announced as a downloadable addition. Alternatively, you could say Fatal Fury's lead villain Geese Howard was an even stranger choice, as SNK and Namco were, at one point in time, rivals on the fighting game scene.

Personally, Akuma's addition trumps both - mostly due to his importance to the game's story. Even though Street Fighter and Tekken have been best mates for a few years now, and we're supposedly still expecting a Tekken X Street Fighter game at some point in the future, the fact that Akuma is technically the lead antagonist in Tekken 7 has to be some kind of first for fighting games.

Akuma is also the only character in the game that doesn't have a Rage Drive special. Instead, he has a separate bar that allows him to pull off EX Moves and Super Combos - techniques that only characters in Street Fighter games can usually do. As a result, his character feels a bit more Street Fighter than Tekken, yet he's fully playable inside the Tekken engine.
