7 Video Games With Enormous Hollywood Movie Potential

6. Splinter Cell

Of all the entries on this list this is probably the most risk averse for a major studio to finance. Splinter Cell was once the king of third person espionage thrillers, paving the way for incredible visuals and nuanced sound design.

Recent years have seen action stars take the form of veteran actors in the form of Denzel Washington and Liam Neeson amongst others. Sam Fisher is a character that has seen it all, working with the Navy and CIA before joining Third Echelon. He's a gruff, no nonsense type who over time gets enveloped in a wide ranging conspiracy surrounding the death of his daughter and who was truly responsible.

Imagine a tense spy caper with international politics alongside personal and you're half way there in realising how immense this adaptation could be. Tom Hardy was once attached to star in a Splinter Cell adaptation but radio silence has led many to believe it's now dead in the water and for the better, as Sam Fisher requires an actor who has been around the block a few times.

With lower budgetary requirements, Splinter Cell is certainly one of the more like adaptations on this list - a studio just has to pull the trigger.
