We all enjoy letting off some steam every now and again, and have done since the dawn of time. However, how we choose to do it has certainly changed over the years. Your average caveman would probably break a rock or two to gain catharsis, your regular Roman would probably burn a village to the ground and a Victorian might go cockfighting. Yet with a digital world at our fingertips we, as the current generation, have more opportunities to let off steam than most. Of we look for the right games hard enough, we can play out any scenario we like to our amusement and benefit. As such, we're kind of spoiled for choice, so become harder to please. We desire to go that little bit further, that further step toward to ridiculous in order to get out kicks. Indeed, an entire genre of games has been built up around this fact think God Hand, Bayonetta, Asura's Wrath, that sort of thing. It's called overkill, and it's singularly addictive. You can find its joys in a variety of games, where you can sample the joys of going massively over the top in a spectacular way and I believe I've found a few here in unexpected places.
