8 Best Superhero Video Games That Didn't Come From DC Or Marvel

The Wonderful 101 is a playful and funny tribute to comic books and Japanese television shows such as Power Rangers, and it is one of the few Wii U exclusives that made Nintendo fans almost not regret owning the system.

Developed by PlatinumGames, this kid-friendly and charming superhero adventure has a host of self-aware comic book models: The morbidly obese Wonder Green, the Wonder Pink whose skirt leaves little to the imagination, and the Star Lord-esque Wonder Red.

In an effort to outdo Marvel’s lessons about teamwork and friendship, the game has you morphing your orgy of superheroes into bridges, hang-gliders, and weapons. This makes every member of the team invaluable, especially as you save civilians by recruiting and forcing them to join your adorable mob of little rescuers.

Its Wii U controls are not always smooth, but The Wonderful 101 is an endearing, complex and action-packed video game that definitely falls into the category of good Platinum Games. That's saying a lot considering how inconsistent the Japanese studio are (as embodied by the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fiasco).
