One of the most engaging aspects of Overwatch is the development of its characters and the lore behind them, which takes place over some decades.

Mercy is the healer of choice for many and looks angelic in appearance, perhaps a not-so-subtle way of telling players that she is in fact dead, says Reddit user Chibi Ana.

There are stronger hints, too, like her agelessness. We know the likes of Ana and Reinhardt have aged from their younger days (the former is now over 60), Mercy doesn’t look a day over 30, and has maintained her youthful looks across decades.

There are also suggestions in voice lines and interactions with other characters. Chibi Ana points out Mei’s line: "Doctor Ziegler, you haven't aged since the last time I saw you,” which is odd to include, if there wasn’t something going on with Mercy’s age factor.

She also has a “No Pulse” emote, and the word “mercy” is devolved from the Latin “merces,” which translates to “price” or “pay” (price paid).

Mercy is a biologist, so we might be able to attribute her identical looks down the years to science and a killer skincare routine, but some flags seem that bit too convenient.
