Batman: Arkham can provide a whole host of lessons to any studio looking to make a comic book game, and it appears as though the franchise's influence has already rubbed off on Insomniac.

The decision to create their own interpretation of Spider-Man from the ground up isn't new by any stretch - Treyarch's Web of Shadows took the same approach - but never has it been as emphasised as it has today.

This Peter Parker is an older, more mature incarnation of the character, clocking in at around 23 years of age and having been in the Spidey identity since his high school years. Not only does this serve as a fine nod to the much-loved nineties animated series, where Peter was of a similar age, it lends a certain uniqueness to the game too - much in the same way Rocksteady's titles did by depicting a Batman at the pinnacle of his career.

Factor in Insomniac's new costume, as well as their take on the character's villains, and this title has all the makings of another Arkham.
