Japanese RPG series Shin Megami Tensei is lauded in its homeland, but its instalments rarely see a Western release. The Persona sub-series, however, has helped it find a global audience, and that's paved the way for the mainline franchise to make it to these shores.

Sega-owned developer Atlus has confirmed that the next chapter in the saga, Shin Megami Tensei V, will be released for Nintendo Switch in the UK and the US in 2019, giving fans in these territories a taste of what they've been missing.

The Megami Tensei series dates back to the days of the NES, but it has branched out to PlayStation consoles over the years. The most recent instalments were exclusive to the Nintendo 3DS.

Shin Megami Tensei V will boast Unreal Engine 4-powered visuals, and while it's unlikely to be a bestseller in the West, it's certainly another interesing addition to the Switch's growing catalogue.
