9 Franchise Revivals That Could Save The Xbox One

7. Steel Battalion

Fable Anniversary
FromSoftware

If you were a gamer in the early 2000s, chances are you'd heard the legend of Steel Battalion's controller. A panel of switches, levers and emitting blue lights, it became infamous for its 40+ button layout that demanded complete player immersion, which is precisely why Microsoft should try to revive it.

With the green brand deciding to keep its nose out of VR, they can't yet claim an exclusive experience. PlayStation has the PSVR, The Switch has portability and the PC has... well, everything, but Xbox is distinctly lacking.

Enter Steel Battalion. This could be Microsoft's killer app, the extensive control scheme making for a sense of immersion that beats VR at its own game.

The original's also just a lot of fun to play, and with FromSoftware doing the best work of their career, this could be the title to attract hardcore audiences to the platform. Playing a Souls game in a lumbering mech sounds like the kind of exclusive that would ship consoles, and if there's any dev to pull it off, it's FromSoftware.
