God of War, Far Cry 5, Monster Hunter: World, Dragon Ball FighterZ: already this year, we've been privy to a smorgasbord of top quality, lovingly crafted produce from some of the industry's best and brightest. So inundated with hit after hit we've been on a monthly basis that it's dizzying to believe that 2018 isn't even halfway done yet.
Next month, the golden doors of E3 will swing open to inevitably unleash yet another round of hugely anticipated titles for the masses to salivate over, but that's not even taking into account the plethora of experiences we already know about, ready and waiting in the wings to blow our socks off during the remaining six months of the year.
More PlayStation 4 exclusives - Spider-Man, Kingdom Hearts 3 - as well as multi-platform leviathans like Black Ops 4 have already proven their worth to thrillseekers via hands-on events and trailers and, unlike the far-off adventures we'll hear more about in a few short weeks, they're locked in for launch before 2019.
Nobody can say for certain which game will be this year's biggest winner, but for what it's worth, our money's on one particular title that's been a long time coming.
Hint: it starts with Red and ends with Redemption 2.
