9. Makarov Being A Celebrity-Level Terrorist Ruins Modern Warfare 2's 'No Russian' Plan

One of the most controversial levels ever made, at first glance the premise of the 'No Russian' mission in Modern Warfare 2 seems to make sense.

The idea is that you're playing as an undercover American agent working with a gang of international terrorists, about to conduct a mass shooting in a Russian airport. After the massacre it's revealed that the terrorists knew about your cover the whole time, and they leave you for dead at the scene of the crime, sparking a war between Russia and America in the process.

The problem is however, despite the only confirmed culprit being an American agent and the terrorists purposefully not speaking Russian to hide their nationalities ('No Russian', indeed), their identities should have been easy to suss out...

Why? Because the team is led by Makarov, one of the most wanted men in the world in MW2's story. His existence and his appearance is common knowledge - not least to the international units who are dedicated to taking him down.

Even in the unlikely event that nobody caught a glimpse of him (after all, he's not wearing any sort of mask during the mission), then surely someone would check to see if he was involved, rather than immediately jumping straight into an unnecessary war?
