AEW Elite General Manager will only work on mobile phones.

Sad news for fans of wrestling video games, as All Elite Wrestling's console game will not feature a GM Mode.

In an interview with IGN Japan, Kenny Omega noted that while the game will feature a campaign mode, online multiplayer, a create-a-wrestler feature, and "various other unusual modes", there will be no mode similar to that of the SmackDown vs. Raw era. Instead, fans of the mode will need to get their GM Mode fix through one of AEW's two mobile games, Elite General Manager.

An official quote from 'The Best Bout Machine' stated the following:

I can say right now that we’re not sure of how many wrestlers will be available upon release, but one thing I can say is that the number of wrestlers in the AEW is growing all the time, and the roster of wrestlers in the game will reflect that. There will be a campaign, and various other unusual modes, and you will be able to edit your own wrestler, too.

While a release date hasn't yet been confirmed, the reigning AEW World Champion noted that developers were hoping to release the game in 2021, providing all the kinks are worked out. Don't get your hopes up, though - AEW won't be releasing their first venture into console gaming until they are entirely happy with the end product.
