Amnesia: A Machine For Pigs - 5 Ways To Recover From A Play Session

4. Turn On All The Lights

Light Switch One of the main things about Amnesia: A Machine For Pigs is its effective use of darkness. That's pretty much a given in any horror game or film, but AMFP's darkness is very real and very dangerous. You're there walking around an abandoned factory with nothing but a lantern for company. All you can rely on is that little bit of vision the light grants you. And then the lantern flickers out. This is distressing for two main reasons: firstly, you can't see where the hell you're going and secondly, the act of the lantern flickering usually means there is a rather volatile pig monster nearby. And you don't want to upset the wildlife. In the dark, alone, you have to figure out what to do very quickly. It's fight or flight, but without the fight. Leaving Amnesia and your computer screen, you should be greeted with two things. Darkness and aloneness. Because you play alone and in the dark, right? That's the whole point. Anyway, that's the way I do it, but maybe I shouldn't, as suddenly the house seems rather cold and my hyped up senses can't help hearing the house creaking. The first thing to do after a bout of Amnesia is to turn on all the lights!
