Mass Effect Andromeda took a pounding, perhaps unfairly, on release, and much of the flak was aimed at the faces and animations.

From the limited glimpses of the facial animations and textures in Anthem, they are of a higher order than anything Mass Effect ever boasted, with depth and soul, as well as just texture resolution.

If this is carried over to the whole game and not just a few mission introductions or cutscenes, Anthem could help banish criticism the memory of Andromeda’s peculiar faces forever. Perhaps more than anything else, this is the most essential ingredient to enhancing BioWare's reputation as maker of the most cutting edge games.

The gaming public has been spoiled by facial textures and animations bordering on photorealistic, and BioWare has to match those expectations.
