8. The IT Crowd
There are a number of high-profile secrets in the modern day portion of the game, which can mostly be found when hacking the work stations of your fellow employees. The tone of most of those Eggs are humorous - especially the briefer, slighter references, which are consequently harder to notice - including Ubisoft in-jokes and nods to other games in the Ubi stable, as we'll come to discuss. And it isn't just the video games that Ubisoft have turned their slightly tongue-in-cheek gaze upon. In the modern day Abstergo setting, you can overhear two co-workers talking about Chicago (itself the key to another Easter Egg upcoming) and if you wait within earshot, the pair will start talking about John from the IT department. One of the pair says that whenever he requests any help, no matter what it is, John simply replies "Have you tried turning it off and on again?" smugly. If that's not a reference to the ultimately dismissive phrase made popular by The IT Crowd, it's a massive coincidence...
