Assassin's Creed 4: 10 Things It Needs

9. Less Action, More Stealth

While it'll be great to have epic swordfights with Samurais, it's important to remember that Assassin's Creed began not as an action series, but as one rooted in stealth, and Ubisoft would do well not to steer too far from that. Though the series has always been about killing people, it started out by emphasising subtlety and the importance of not being caught, but now, it's perilously close to just becoming a frantic action series, as seems to be the trend these days. Part of the problem, though, is that the action sequences are just a lot more fun to play than the stealth missions; Ubisoft needs to look around at games like Metal Gear Solid 4 and even their own earlier Splinter Cell titles to see how stealth can be done properly. Fix the AI issues and the repetitive nature of the kills; make us want to sneakily murder someone and get away with it again, rather than just launch an all-out assault on anyone in the vicinity.
