Against all odds - and remember, we're on 11th instalment of the series right now - Assassin's Creed Odyssey is a wall-to-wall epic. The world alone is a staggering testament to the sheer opulent power of Ubisoft. Clearly a lot of time and effort went into researching Ancient Greece and its peloponnesian war backdrop, resulting in a game that drips with detail, begging you to dive in.

Gameplay-wise, this is the best Assassin's Creed has ever been. Gone is the animation priority feel that saw past characters leap in the wrong direction or otherwise feel unreliable, and in is a seamless blend of Souls-ian combat and the signature stealth mechanics we've loved since 2007.

Ditching any semblance of realism or believability has actually benefitted the experience tenfold. Now you barely suffer fall damage and can negate it altogether later on. Teleport-kills span the map, and your moveset includes more than a handful of supernatural shockwave attacks.

Combined we've got a sequel that feels relentless; something you'll sink tens of hours into at a time, and a game that has a stupid amount of things to see and do.
