Assassin's Creed: Odyssey - 9 Future Settings Ubisoft Must Use

8. Ancient Rome

Assassin's Creed has already been to Rome. Assassin's Creed Brotherhood took place in Rome in the 16th Century, and part of the world design made it clear that the city was still a ruin of its former self.

Ubisoft could take us back in time, to Rome from this heyday. Taking the series there would be in keeping with the new trajectory of the series of exploring the important pillars of the ancient world.

Taking us to a bustling city would also be more in keeping with the traditional games, of exploring historical buildings and engaging with well-known figures. If there is a game set in Rome, we're almost definitely seeing Julius Caesar killed, or Nero burn down Rome, or Hannibal nearly invade the city.

The centuries BC already feature proto-Assassins and Templars, and perhaps Rome, the centre of Europe at the time, could show us formative stages of both these organisations. The empire was also notoriously war-like, which could make for an interesting change to gameplay due to the tactical and military prowess of the armies at the time.

I'm based in the UK, looking to make a career out of writing about entertainment and culture. The only thing I like as much as watching films, playing games or listening to music is enjoying as much hummus and crisps as I can while I do so. My favourite film is Eddie the Eagle and I like any game that lets me wander around beautiful worlds (or eat hummus and crisps).
