Batman Arkham Origins: 10 Reasons Why It Should Get Your Blood-Pumping

10. Geoff Johns

geoff johns Many mourned when they heard the news Paul Dini, writer of the two previous Arkham titles, wouldn€™t be returning for Origins. Well fear not, as it€™s Geoff Johns to the rescue! For those of you not in the know, Geoff Johns is one of the most accomplished comic book writers alive, having risen to fame with his story Green Lanter: The Sinestro Corp Wars, Johns has written for Batman, Flash, Aquaman, Green Lantern, and the Justice League, with his crossover stories Infinite Crisis and Blackest Night thought to be some of the best comic-books of the last decade. Not only that, but Johns is currently the Chief Creative Officer at DC, meaning whenever there€™s a film, television programme, story, or video-game being made about a DC character (whether that be Batman, Superman, Green Arrow or whoever else) Johns is involved somewhere along the line. Saying out-and-out that he is a better writer than Paul Dini would be unfair, but it€™s safe to say Johns has a lot more experience and his repertoire of work is much more diverse. The likelihood is Origins will be a far darker story with Johns at the helm, though his tendency to focus on the more supernatural franchises means it wouldn€™t be too surprising if Origins contains a few more €˜abstract€™ ideas than its predecessors, yet he€™s a talented enough writer not to take the franchise towards the ridiculous. In short, there are few writers we could trust to handle the Arkham series effectively, but Johns is definitely one of them. Besides, as he€™s currently writing an alternative €˜Batman Begins€™ esque story for DC, Origins couldn€™t have hoped for a more suitable writer. A game by Grant Morrison would have been nice though.
