Okay, now the race for 2016's finest shooter truly is heating up. Where before we had the more fantastical side of things covered by the delightful Overwatch and the gore-soaked, perfect-playing DOOM, now DICE are about to drop their confident return to the old school.

Battlefield 1 may be releasing worldwide on October 21st - and is already out on EA Access and Origin - but now all the critical reviews are pouring in, and they're mostly, incredibly positive.

It marks the first time in years where one of gaming's two biggest shooters has gone back in time, rather than forwards (putting Battlefield 1 firmly against COD's space-age Infinite Warfare in every possible regard) resulting in one hell of a dogfight going into the fourth quarter of the year, as to who'll come out on top.

Where Call of Duty's latest instalment was down-voted into Youtube's history books under the 'Most Hated Things Ever' column, EA and DICE have played their cards right since May.
